Find suitable AI partners and identify value creation potential.

Bringing innovative solutions of the AI landscape into applications at companies.

What’s the research project about?

With the joint research project “What can AI do for me?”, – the Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence at Stuttgart Media University, thingsTHINKING GmbH and KENBUN IT AG – not only wanted to deepen research in the field of digital value creation, but also to bring innovative solutions in the AI landscape more strongly into application at companies.

Therefore, an AI-based matching platform was developed in the joint research project. This allowes companies to describe their still unspecific AI projects in text form, whereupon suitable AI application possibilities and AI solution companies are found through semantic matching. In addition, an expert assessment of the value creation potential of a comparable project is displayed.

In this way, companies can recognize potential applications for AI and identify suitable partner companies for implementation. While removing the hurdle for companies – especially from the SME sector – to start implementing AI, the platform represents a free opportunity for solution providers to acquire potential new customers.

Semantic matching enables the identification of suitable AI partners.

Technically, the planned matching platform is based on the AI solution semantha from the software company thingsTHINKING in Karlsruhe. The semantic platform is able to analyze and compare texts at the level of meaning – without additional, individual training. As a result, a user’s form input at WhatCanAIDoForMe.com can be easily matched with the use cases of AI service providers and users.

Deepen research around AI value creation potential.

As part of the joint research project, the AI Value Creation Study was developed at the Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence at the Hochschule der Medien. This study investigates questions relating to AI value creation potential. In order to be able to answer these questions appropriately, both a qualitative and a quantitative survey were conducted. On the one hand, the results of the study show the major challenges companies face with regard to AI implementation, but they also highlight the diverse AI value creation potentials that can be found across all industries and in all areas of the company.

The project partners

The goal of the IAAI is to bring AI into application. To close the gap between research, companies and society, the institute bundles the AI competence of the university in an interdisciplinary association of professors, researchers and HdM partners. The research and development projects of the IAAI cover various sub-areas of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The common denominator is the focus on the application side.
